The sixth round of the season is ready to show off the difficult special stages of Lazio from the 20th to 22nd of July. Expected the confrontation between the big names of CIR and the ERC for an army of 32 R5 cars that will battle on 15 special stages, from the Rome show to the Ostia one, passing through Pico's spotlight. Among the Italians there will be in Rome Paolo Andreucci, back from a heavy accident in the tests.

Rome, Wednesday 18th July 2018 - The Italian Rally Championship comes back on asphalt in the 6th Rome Capital Rally. The race organized by Motorsport Italia and coordinated by Max Rendina, in addition to having validity for the FIA ​​European Rally Championship which is at its fifth act and valid for the Regional Championship, coincides with the sixth round of the highest tricolor series. The rally of the Eternal City, scheduled for the next weekend, will therefore again be characterized by an important structure. Three special stages show (EUR neighborhood Friday 18:30 | Pico Saturday 19:15 | Lido di Ostia Sunday 19:18) and a total itinerary of 967.12 km, starting from Rome on Friday 20 July will once again have an operational base in Fiuggi and will cross 56 different municipalities before making its return to the capital for the grand finale on the coast on Sunday 22.

Rome is therefore ready to welcome the protagonists of the two prestigious championships, which have responded with 32 riders that will be competing with R5 cars. Among these, the main actors of CIR, starting from Paolo Andreucci. The first surprise of the rally is just offered by the tricolor’s frontrunner, given to the veil as probable absent because of the accident on Friday 13, but who immediately recovered and he is now ready to defend the record. Andreucci will be joined on this occasion by David Castiglioni on the Peugeot 208 T16 R5. However, many will be aiming for victory, more than all Umberto Scandola from Verona with Guido D'Amore on Skoda Fabia R5, who comes back to Rome after winning in 2015 and 2016 and to get closer to the first place in the standings which is 22 points distant. The first success of the season is also the Italian Simone Campedelli, together with Tania Canton on the Ford Fiesta R5, just one point behind Scandola and a second place finish in the San Marino Rally.

Important names also for the ERC members, with the Italian representative Giandomenico Basso who wants to assert himself on the Fabia R5 in comparison with the big names like the current Portuguese n ° 1 Bruno Magalhaes (Fabia R5), the Russian Alexey Lukyanuk ( Fiesta R5) that follows him at a distance of 15 points and the Cypriot Simos Galatariotis (Fabia R5) currently fourth overall in the European series. Andrea Crugnola from Varese will want to redeem himself after his withdrawal in San Marino, flanked by Danilo Fappani, also on Fiesta R5, currently fourth among the drivers of the absolute. Behind the current leader of the Italian Asphalt Rally Championship the main rivals will all be also armed with Fabia R5. In fact, the Tuscan Rudy Michelini will not be missing in the race, second at minus 10 points, just 2 points behind the other Tuscan Luca Panzani after the excellent performance of San Marino and, 2 lengths away from Pavia Scattolon. Racing for a place that counts among the CIRA specialists also Giuseppe Testa from Molise and Antonio Rusce from Emilia, both driving the Ford Fiesta R5, in addition to Kevin Gilardoni at his debut on the Hyundai i20 R5, Andrea Dalmazzini supported by Aci Team Italia on the second on Tarmac with Fiesta R5 and Marco Pollara from Sicily on the Peugeot 208 T16 R5. It will also be an important rally for the fate of the Italian Two-Wheel Drive Rally Championship, with a trio of Renault Clio RS R3T driven by the Italian Ivan Ferrarotti, who will have to guard against the attacks by Riccardo Canzian and Emanuele Rosso.
It will be an exciting weekend also for the young drivers on Peugeot 208 R2 registered in the Italian Rally Junior Championship. First on the list is the new leader of the series, Damiano De Tommaso, closely followed by Andrea Mazzocchi, Tommaso Ciuffi from Florence, and Jacopo Trevisani from Brescia, winner in San Marino; and still among young people there will be the Davide Nicelli from Pavia, the Milanese Rachele Somaschini, Alessandro Nerobutto from Trentino and the Veronese Stefano Strabello.

Even the single-brand trophies will return to the capital.
