Another record edition for the Rally di Roma Capitale

A total of 90.000 presences have been recorded by the event organized by Motorsport Italia: 35.000 spectators in the two days in Ostia with an itinerary packed with 54.000 spectators that welcomed the rally since the start in the Eternal City.

Rome July 23, 2019. The 7th Rally di Roma Capitale, the event that reached its conclusion in Ostia on Sunday, July 21st, with the “Arena ACI Roma” super special Stage marking 90,000 presences had another record edition. The number of spectators in Ostia went beyond the 35.000 mark, as it staged the final show of the “Arena ACI Roma”. The beach town near Rome has been under the spotlight for two days with its “Motorsport Village” all the exhibitions, karting races and entertainment events in the presence of motorsport stars like former F.1 drivers Giancarlo Fisichella, Nicola Larini and Emanuele Pirro, that have been competing on karts with their young children.

Basso – Granai on Skoda take the win at the Rally di Roma Capitale

The great show “Arena ACI Roma” in Ostia completed another record edition of the event organized by Motorsport Italia. The completely Italian podium welcomed the comeback of Campedelli on Ford and Crugnola on Skoda, the latter winning 14 tests. Ovation for the patron Maurizio Battista with Enrico Silvestrin.

 

Rome, July 21st, 2019. The 7th Rally di Roma Capitale awarded strong emotions until the final meters of the “Arena ACI Roma”, the final show that ran in front of thousands of spectators in Ostia that cheered an all-Italian podium at the 5th round of the European Rally Championship and Italian Rally Championship. Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai took the win on Skoda Fabia R5. The crew of Metior Sport got the lead halfway through leg one thanks to the win in SS4. Since then they defended with skills and experience the lead from the attacks of their rivals. The second position eventually went to Simone Campedelli and Tania Canton that after a troubled start saw their efforts as well as the work of Team Orange One on the Ford Fiesta R5 delivered by M-sport in its latest updates only at the eve of the race rewarded also by the win of SS7. Andrea Crugnola and Pietro Elia Ometto managed to get on the podium thanks to a gritty performance on the Skoda Fabia R5. The Gass Racing crew dominated the rally winning 13 of the 16 tests but slipped down to the back due to a puncture in leg one and with a great resolution they started a furious comeback run completing it with the decisive attack in the closing stages when the two recovered the final seconds. Thanks to the double win on the “Arena ACI Roma” Crugnola won the “Memorial Pasquale Amoroso”, event in the memory of the late ACI Sport Manager. The opening race was won by the Russian Gryazin on Skoda Fabia instead.

The Rally di Roma Capitale heading to the “Arena ACI Roma”

Basso – Granai are still leading the rally with 5 tests to go on Skoda Fabia. Crugnola won three stages on Skoda and is fifth after the four wins in day one. Lukyanuk is second on Citroen and is followed by the winner of SS7 Campedelli on Ford. One more loop is left on the 4 stages before the grand finale in Ostia.

Rome, July 21st, 2019. After the four tests of the 2nd Day, Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai are the leaders of the 7th Rally di Roma Capitale on Skoda Fabia run by Metior Sport, despite a day two run on the back foot keeping concentration high to fend off the rivals.

The Russian Alexey Lukyanuk is second on Citroen C3 and he is trying to get an elusive better feeling with his car on the tarmacs of Lazio. The third place is currently occupied by a combative Simone Campedelli and co-driver Tania Canton that are enjoying the progress on their new Ford Fiesta R5 prepared by M-Sport.

The Eternal City embraces its rally

The Ceremony at the Campidoglio, the start from Castel Sant’Angelo and the pass through the city center in front of thousands of people welcoming the start of the 7th Rally di Roma Capitale. The six stages of day one in Ciociaria are ahead tomorrow, Saturday July 20th , in the program of the event organized by Motorsport Italia.

Rome July 19th, 2019. The 7th Rally di Roma Capitale is underway. The start has been given at the Campidoglio with the Ceremony Slection of Start position and pre-rally press conference at 19. The protagonists of the 5th Round of the European Championship and Italian Rally Championship have been introduced and got off the starting platform in Castel Sant’Angelo and then did a pass on the main roads of the Eternal City, passing by some of the most important historic monuments in the world and being cheered by thousands of fans. The autograph session has also been quite crowded before the start. This is quite a unique setting for the event devised by Production World Champion 2014 Max Rendina at the lead of the staff of Motorsport Italia. Tomorrow, Saturday July 20th, the six stages scheduled for leg one will take place in Ciociaria. Three stages: “Pico-Greci” (19,46 km) [SS1 at 9:33 | SS4 at 15:52]; “Roccasecca-Colle San Magno” (13,93 km) [SS2 at 10:28 | SS5 at 16:47]; “Santopadre-Arpino” (21,17 km) [SS3 at 11:18 | SS6 1 at 7:37] the longest of the rally.

Engines on at the 7th Rally di Roma Capitale

The event organized by Motorsport Italia is getting to its heart. The Qualifying Stage and the Shakedown will take place tomorrow as the opening from Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome.

Rome, July 18th, 2019. Engines are switching on at the 8th Rally di Roma Capitale. Preliminary operations being concluded today, tomorrow, Friday, July 19th will open with the Qualifying Stage in Fumone and the shakedown that will be run also by the contenders of the Italian Rally Championship on a 4.02 km road strip in Ciociaria. The Selection of Start Position and pre-rally Press Conference at the Sala della Protomoteca - Piazza del Campidoglio 1 Roma – entrance from the Vignola staircase – will be at 16.

The opening show of the Rally di Roma Capitale will follow at 19 with the start from Castel Sant’Angelo, the prestigious and exclusive setting in the Rome city centre that will house the start to the 5th Round of the European Rally Championship and Italian Rally Championship.

The big names of the European and Italian Championships will then head to Fiuggi for the night regrouping.

Rome July 10th, 2019. The details of the 7th Rally di Roma Capitale, the event that will be the 5th round of the European Championship and Italian Rally from July 17th to 21st , have been unveiled. This sporting event will involve the whole area of the Capital but also the province of Frosinone and Ostia. Promotion of the territory through the spectacle of rally that is close to people. Four figures staff for Rally di Roma Capitale

More than 1000 people coordinated by Motorsport Italia will work to organize the event valid for the European and Italian Championships from July 18th to 21st. These include stewards, safety and preparation marshals, service center staff and several volunteers and will benefit from the support of Police.
